CODE OF CONDUCT

Members Responsibilities

Members should make every endeavour to ensure that they conduct their business affairs in a professional manner and avoid behaviour that could bring the UK Association of Virtual Assistants (UKAVA) or its membership into disrepute.

Members should conduct their business affairs on sound, ethical principles and make every endeavour to trade fairly and honestly with employees, clients and suppliers.

Members must make honest representations of their skills, experience and qualifications at all times.

Members must respect the confidentiality of their clients personal and business practices and recognise their clients ownership of any intellectual copyright pertaining to their business activities.

Members may not under any circumstances purport to represent, speak on behalf of or otherwise act as a representative of the UKAVA.

Members should strive to maintain their high professional standards by staying abreast of advances within the industry and continuing education and training. Members must strive for excellence through professional improvement.

Members must recognise that being an accredited UKAVA member is a privilege and responsibility and not abiding by this Code of Conduct is cause for termination or suspension of membership and all rights to use logos and UKAVA's name cease.

All UKAVA members' web sites must be family safe. UKAVA will not accept web sites that:

  • incite, advocate, or expresses pornography, obscenity, vulgarity, profanity, hatred, bigotry, racism, or gratuitous violence.
  • provides or create links to external sites that violate this Code of Conduct.
  • invade anyone's privacy by attempting to harvest, collect, store, or publish private or personally identifiable information, such as passwords, account information, credit card numbers, addresses, or other contact information without their foreknowledge and willing consent.
  • is illegal or violates any local and national laws that apply to your location; including but not limited to child pornography, illegal drugs, copyright material and intellectual property not belonging to you.
  • is intended to threaten, stalk, defame, defraud, degrade, victimize, or intimidate an individual or group of individuals for any reason; including on the basis of age, gender, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, race, or religion; or to incite or encourage any one else to do so.

No exceptions will be made to this rule under any circumstances.

UKAVA’s Responsibilities

UKAVA will provide a forum for virtual assistant professionals to interact and raise the level of excellence of their field.

UKAVA will defend and promote the interests of its members when dealing with the Government or other agencies, both in the UK and worldwide.

UKAVA will ensure the privacy of members by not selling or distributing their names, emails, or addresses.

The UKAVA reserves the right to periodically amend this Code of Conduct to meet the needs of our members and our industry. This Code of Conduct was developed by the Board of Directors in August 2005.

The UKAVA Code of Conduct does not take precedence of national law.
